The Berkeley Physics International Education Program (BPIE) is not intended as a pathway into UC Berkeley. It is a visiting student experience that gives you Berkeley course credit, which students may use towards completion of their undergraduate degree at their home university. It is important to note that acceptance of transfer credit is always up to the receiving institution. Accordingly, visiting students must connect with their home programs to confirm approval and/or equivalency of Berkeley classes they intend to take.
With that said, the BPIE offers workshops on applying to graduate school admissions to help students prepare for the graduate school application process. Students in this program also have access to exclusive faculty-BPIE student lunches, as well as individual advising with advisors from the UC Berkeley Physics department. Additionally, successful completion of the BPIE program and the connections you make with faculty members can bolster your graduate school applications. However, students will not get special consideration for a UC Berkeley degree program because of their participation in BPIE. You will still need to meet the same application requirements and be evaluated against other applicants when applying to UC Berkeley main campus.
