The Berkeley Haas Global Access Program serves as a pathway to apply for Optional Practical Training (OPT) after students successfully complete two consecutive semesters of study. You can read more about OPT on our Voices blog, visa information webpage, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security website.
Also, we would like to point out that many students who apply for OPT through our UC Berkeley Global programs have been granted the one-year work authorization. However, while we assist and provide recommendations for OPT, UC Berkeley cannot guarantee or approve OPT applications as it is at the discretion of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
If you have more specific questions about OPT or your individual situation, please send an email to our International Student Services department (ISS) at extension-intl@berkeley.edu.
