Video Essay Requirements
You will be shown a prompt during the application process. You can find examples of prompts on your program’s 'How to Apply' webpage
Time Limit
- Maximum of 2 minutes
Language
- Responses must be recorded in English. Your video is not used to assess your English language skills. The focus is on the content of your video and not your outward presentation or video-making skills.
How to Record Your Video
- Use the camera on your phone, laptop, or tablet
- No special setup is required
- Find a quiet space where you can speak comfortably
- Follow the instructions on screen.
The video will be recorded directly within the online application system. You will not upload a file separately.
Recording Tips
To help your recording go smoothly:
- Read the instructions and prompt carefully before you start
- Take a moment to organize your thoughts
- Keep your response focused and within the time limit
Remember, we are interested in what you say, not how the video looks.
What Matters Most
We encourage you to:
- Speak honestly and thoughtfully
- Clearly explain your interests and motivations
- Share how this program fits into your academic or career path
- Clarity of thought is far more important than delivery or appearance.
What You Don’t Need to Worry About
The following are not considered during review:
- Video quality, lighting, or background
- Editing or production value
- Accent or speaking style
These factors are not considered in the review process.
